Fragile Hearts

Charcoal

Do not be ashamed of your identity
For you are the Only One
The Universe chose to forge into ‘You’

If Charcoal was ashamed of its looks
And refused to be a piece of char,

Would we have had the luxury
To quench our thirst with pure water
If not for this excellent cleanser of contamination?

Would we have had the privilege
To drop our jaws at the
Marvels of the brilliant artists?

Would we have had the grandeur
Of flaunting a healthy skin
Free from bacteria and dirt?

Never be sorry for who you are
For if you put yourself down,
You’re refusing to be you and offer your contributions;
You’re refusing to lift up the Universe’s commands!

If only it was simpler to forget

People ask me to stop thinking
About the things that I can no longer change.
A leaf that falls from the tree
Cannot be attached back;
It doesn’t belong there anymore!
They ask me to forget the unpleasant things
And stop being depressed.
If only it was simpler to forget!

If only it was simpler to forget
The image of her delightful face
Replaced by her blood-soaked ruins!
The sweet scent of her hair,
Lost in the stench of the gore!

If only it was simpler to forget
Her horror struck eyes wide open
In disbelief of the terrifying moment;
Could it all have just been a dream?
Could every terrible event end with you waking up and quelling from the nightmare!?

If only it was simpler to forget
My helpless effort of pacifying
Her voiceless heart screaming in fear
Trying to warm up her pulse-less palm;
Cold in the aftermath!

If only it was simpler to forget
The guilty feeling of having let her sit
Where I was sitting, moments before the tragedy
The guilt of having taken her on a
Never-returning journey

If only it was simpler to forget
And let go of the ghosts of her absence;
Of endless conversations about forever and eternity;
All destroyed in the blink of an eye
All washed out in the flood of tears

If only it was simpler to forget
And loosen up the shackles
Of the neurons, holding all the memories
And let them fly to the non existent land of solace
People ask me to forget!?
If only it was that simple to forget!

~Dedicated to a friend who recently survived an accident but lost his friend~

And as we speak

And as we speak
The Sun somewhere, is setting for a beautiful dusk
And somewhere else, someone’s waking up to the Sunrise call

And as we speak
There is someone saying goodbye to Mother Earth
And a Mother is welcoming her newborn child

And as we speak
A billion clocks around the world are at a billion different seconds of the twenty four hours
But the only thing I want to carry to my grave
Are the memories of this very moment, of ‘You and I’

Is this what they call Love?

I wish I could hold you closer
Than the night holds the stars to its heart!

And kiss you nice and slower
And we pause and then we restart!

I just want you to know
Wherever I go
All I think about is you!

I can’t describe this to you
What is this I’m going through
Is this what they call Love?

I can’t think of a way to tell you
Aren’t you feeling this too
Is this what they call Love?

I wish I could be your shoulder
When you’re down and you’re falling apart.

And as we keep growing older
I’ll be there for you until we last!

I just want you to know
Wherever I go
All I think about is you!

I can’t describe this to you
What is this I’m going through
Is this what they call Love?

I can’t think of a way to tell you
Aren’t you feeling this too
Is this what they call Love?
